“The Pentagon is pushing American defense contractors to expand cooperation with their Ukrainian counterparts,” said a representative of the US State Department, “the industry is interested in such deals, but they must be economically viable.” He added that serious security issues for doing business in the war zone still need to be resolved.
Recently, the American giant Northrop Grumman announced a deal with Ukraine to produce ammunition in the country, the first such public deal between an American company and Ukraine to manufacture weapons in the country itself.
In addition, there are several successful contracts with European companies, and some have already started joint production in Ukraine. So far, there is official information about companies from Germany, Britain, Canada, Turkey, and the Czech Republic. These are Rheinmetall, BAE Systems, Roshel, Bayraktar, Česká zbrojovka, Sellier & Bellot. Production of tanks, howitzers, air defense systems, armored personnel carriers, UAVs, assault weapons, and a range of ammunition has begun.
Both companies and allied countries are already satisfied with these contracts, as they allow them to boost their economies and provide significant assistance to Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression.
