ВRICS, which consists of countries that share common interests in opposing Western political and economic systems, is increasingly taking on the characteristics of an anti-Western coalition. These countries, particularly Russia, China, India, Brazil, and South Africa, are forming an alternative of influence that challenges traditional Western values and structures.
In BRICS’ active support for Russia in the context of the war in Ukraine, as well as cooperation with Iran on security and issues, it is clear that this coalition could serve as a foundation for forming an “axis of evil.” Western countries, seeking ways to counter the aggressive policies of these states, must take decisive action. Information obtained from American intelligence regarding the supply of Iranian missiles to the Russian army has been corroborated. The possibility of providing other types of assistance to scale up the production capacities of Russia’s military-industrial complex is also not excluded.
Strengthening sanctions against Russia and Iran is necessary to protect democratic values and the international order. Such sanctions could include financial restrictions, trade bans, and other economic measures that would complicate these countries’ ability to pursue aggressive policies. In October of this year, the BRICS meeting is set to take place in Kazan, where Russia will preside.
Recent statements by the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, regarding the establishment of a special BRICS security structure should unite NATO countries in taking preventive measures for collective security and to prevent the escalation of the war in Ukraine.
