The far-right FPÖ in Austria wants to stop payments to the EU military fund.

The Austrian far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ), predicted to win first place in the September parliamentary elections, has announced in its election program that it intends to stop payments to the European Peace Facility. Which the EU actively uses to increase its military potential and also to help Ukraine with weapons.

This is stated in the manifesto published by the FPÖ itself on its website. The program states that today Austria allegedly violates its neutrality by making contributions to the European Peace Fund, which is focused on supporting the Ukrainian military.

“We stand for an active policy of peace and neutrality – payments to the EU Peace Fund should be stopped. Austria should use its money for its own army.”

In addition, the manifesto states that Vienna’s “anti-neutrality” regarding the war in Ukraine harms Austria more than Russia, and that the ongoing war creates an additional burden and fuels energy prices.

A separate item in the program mentions the need to continue consuming Russian gas. Although the FPÖ notes that Austria should reduce its dependence on other countries for energy and promote the use of renewable energy sources, the far-right says that renewable energy sources cannot cover all of Austria’s demand.

“Russian gas will continue to make an important contribution to our security of supply. The irresponsible sanctions, which are counterproductive market interference, have led to multiple increases in gas prices. This puts not only private households, but also industry, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in a position to face problems that are sometimes impossible to solve.”

Elections to the National Council, the lower house of the Austrian parliament, will be held on September 29. Therefore, such openly pro-Russian and anti-European ideas have no place in the EU and is the future cause of Russia’s war against Europe. EU has already chosen the right path of armed resistance to Russian aggression and daily assistance to Ukraine in the war against the invaders.
