War is always cruel. But it becomes absolutely inhuman, when children are among the victims of this battle.
What we are witnessing right now after Russian aggression against Ukraine has gone far away of morale and international humanitarian laws. It is just a carnage.
Russian armed forces shelling not the military objects, which, at least, could be a potential threat for occupants. They hit civil objects with cruise missile and cluster munitions to bring as much panic as possible. Women and children need to spend in shelters almost whole day, hiding from bombs. They have a very limited access to medical treatment, not sufficient water and food. Children are scared; most of them simply can’t understand why they need to hide all the time and can’t back to normal life.
Some women were pregnant at the moment, when the war started. Since that time, some of them gave birth to their babies just under the shelling in shelters, like metro stations without all necessary medical equipment. We have shelters, constrainedly turned to a maternity hospitals and kindergartens.
Children have no access to education, they suffer from panic and psychological trauma. But what is more unacceptable – children are constantly wounded and even killed by Russians. Since the beginning of the war on February, 24th Ukraine lost up to 20 children due to Russian attacks. There are evidences of intentional shooting of civil cars with all passengers inside, including kids. This happened near Nova Kahovka in Kherson region on February, 24th, when the whole family (including Sophia (6yo) and Ivan (1,5 months) was killed in a van by occupants, when civilians tried to evacuate from the city. On February, 26th a group of Russian saboteurs had killed another family of five in Kyiv, including three kids.
On February, 26th a 7yo girl Alisa Glans died after strike on kindergarten in Okhtyrka, Sumy region with multiple rocket launching systems (MRLS). There was no military objects around and it’s a clear violation of all existing international laws. On the next day after shelling of civil living areas in Mariupol, Donetska region with “Grad” and “Uragan” MRLS another 6yo girl was injured. Medics in local hospital have tried to save her life, but unfortunately, they didn’t succeed. On February, 27-28 due to heavy shelling of civil living areas in Kharkiv several children were killed by Russians.
So, despite the official promises from Vladimir Putin, there are ongoing attacks on living areas and civil objects, and the number of it is growing. Same as the number of victims among civil population, first of all, among innocent children.
These are uncovered and intentional war crimes, made by Russian army and government. Tears and blood of Ukrainian children is on Putin’s hands. But it is never too late to stop this massacre until there are someone to save. Ukraine call on immediate actions against Putin’s regime! We need to close Ukrainian sky for Russian bombers, jets and cruise missile right now!
