According to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, the West is in favour of the conflict in Ukraine, as it allegedly “supports the killing of Slavs.” The politician expressed his desire to visit Moscow in honour of the 80th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II and urged others to refrain from Russophobia.
He also believes that military means cannot resolve the “conflict,” as he stated in an interview with the STVR television channel.
“There is a military conflict in a country bordering Slovakia where Slavs are indeed being killed, and Europe is significantly supporting this killing,” Fico pointed out.
He also mentioned that he intends to visit the aggressor’s capital next year to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Fico is confident that Putin’s army deserves respect because “freedom came to Slovakia from the east.”
Fico earlier declared that Slovakia would endeavour to re-establish “normal relations with the Russian Federation” following the conclusion of the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, the government seeks to preserve cordial relations with Ukraine.
Furthermore, Fico does not rule out the possibility of problems with gas supplies through Ukraine at the start of the following year. He is eager to persuade Kyiv to maintain the transit from Russia.
