The political blackmail of the Russian Federation didn’t go through. In response to the expulsion of German diplomatic staff, the government has banned Russia from operating four out of five consulates general in Germany, a Foreign Office spokesman says in Berlin.

Let’s recall that Russia has decided to reduce the number of employees in German institutions and expel hundreds of German government officials from the country. This primarily affects employees of educational and cultural institutions, as well as diplomats.

On March 25, it was reported that the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Baerbock, plans to expel more than 30 Russian diplomats accredited in Berlin from Germany. The diplomats were suspected of recruiting German informants.
