The number and duration of alarms in Ukraine in 2024 are clearly trending upward. This is proved by detailed statistics collected by the Texty team.
One reason for this growth is Russia’s increase in the number of its strike weapons, primarily “Shaheds” produced by Iran and Russia. It has already become quite a standard phenomenon that the alert in several regions is announced in the evening, with the beginning of the arrival of “Shaheds” on the territory of Ukraine, and then spreads and, with certain interruptions, can last until the morning inclusive.
For example, while in Kyiv region in 2023, there were an average of 9 hours of alarms per week, this year the weekly alarm time has increased to 15 hours.
Kyiv itself was somewhat apart from these trends, where until recently, alerts were announced mostly only when Russian drones approached the city. The time of these alerts in the city was the same as last year – only 8 hours. But in September 2024, this trend began to change in the Ukrainian capital as well, with the weekly alarm time increasing to 12 hours.
The increase in the total number and time of alarms was also due to the intensification of tactical aviation near the border regions, which is actively throwing CABs at Ukrainian territory. First of all, of course, we are talking about the Sumy region.
The Russians continue to rely on intensifying terror of the civilian population and are trying to break its resistance with such steps. No nervous system can withstand almost daily anxiety for half a day. Children and the elderly suffer especially from them. Moreover, with the approach of winter, the number of attacks on civilians will constantly increase. Russia has been preparing for this for a long time and has accumulated many drones and missiles.
To withstand the daily massive shelling by the terrorist country of Russia, Ukraine vitally needs more modern air defense systems and permission to launch deep missile strikes on the aggressor’s territory.
