The head of Chechnya, Kadyrov, was invited to the ceremony in the Kremlin to award Heroes of Russia with “Golden Star” medals. According to Novaya Gazeta, Kadyrov met Putin personally, and the topic of the meeting was Syria.
“Now Moscow needs to resolve the issue with the Syrian military bases urgently, and if Kadyrov succeeds, then no reward for this will be a pity.”
For the first time, the head of Chechnya spoke on the Syrian issue right after the Heroes of Russia award ceremony. He called the events a “coup”, and diplomatically referred to the terrorist organization “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” as “these troops”. He also stated that “Assad has failed,” and called for negotiations both with terrorists and “with the topic of who is behind them, even if they are our enemies.”
“I think that today’s forces need to negotiate with them. We need to have a dialogue. And they will arrange a peaceful life, but it is not forever to fight terrorism there. I think that they are very loyal to Russia, and they will maintain relations with us.”
Kadyrov’s Telegram channel posted a post that looked more like a statement from the country’s leader than from the governor of one of the poorest Russian regions. In this statement, special emphasis was placed on “the people of our great country have always treated the Syrian people with respect and sympathy.” We are connected by more than 80 years of mutual relations in various spheres. We exchanged cultural achievements, accepted students from Syria, and actively cooperated in the field of trade, which ensured mutually beneficial conditions for both sides.”
“I urge you not to listen to rumors from enemies who seek to separate Syria from their strategic partner and the brotherly people of Russia.”
As has been recently noted, Russia desperately needs to regain control of its military bases for further control in the Middle East and action in Africa. For this reason, Russians will call anyone a “brotherly people” and promise fantastic benefits. However, it is already well known that it is precisely the “brotherly people” that the Russians will be happy to kill and rob, as they already have done in Syria for many years.
Russia should only be a part of the International Criminal Court’s investigation into all the crimes as handlers of the Assad regime.
