During searches, 7 million dollars were confiscated from Romanian citizen Bogdan Peschir, from whose account the payment for the campaign on TikTok in favor of far-right candidate Kelín Georgescu was made. Agerpres reports, citing sources in the Romanian Prosecutor General’s Office.
After taking his testimony, Peschir was not detained, and no other preventive measures were applied to him.
Documents released by the security service mention Bogdan Peschir and his TikTok account, ‘bogpr,’ detailing a large-scale campaign on TikTok in support of the notorious far-right candidate Kelina Georgescu.
Georgescu’s campaign received funding from this account. The candidate himself officially registered zero campaign expenses.
On December 6, the Constitutional Court of Romania annulled the results of the first round of voting and decided that the entire electoral process must start anew. Despite the cancelled voting on Sunday, Georgescu went to his polling station and stated that the Constitutional Court’s decision is “fatal for democracy.”
