Russians have killed 589 and injured 2,685 peaceful people this summer alone. This is 45% more than in the previous three months. This is stated in the report of the UN Commissioner on Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
In fact, July of this year was the deadliest month for peaceful people in Ukraine.
“The main reason for the high number of peaceful people casualties in July was a large-scale coordinated attack involving dozens of missiles launched by the Russian Federation across Ukraine on July 8. The intensified efforts of the Russian armed forces to establish control over the territory of Donetsk region also resulted in a large number of peaceful people casualties,” – the report says.
During this period, the Russian armed forces continued systematic attacks on energy infrastructure facilities. Between June 1 and August 31, Russian forces conducted at least four major waves of attacks on energy facilities across Ukraine, in addition to the five waves of attacks that occurred in the previous three-month period.
In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, at least 11,743 peaceful people have been killed and 24,614 wounded. According to the UN, the Russians have damaged or destroyed 1,358 educational institutions and 580 medical facilities.
Against the backdrop of the shelling, Ukraine has been constantly calling on its Western partners to provide it with air defense systems. However, the EU and the US have so far decided to cover only the capital and a couple of other strategic sites.

Air defense systems are not offensive weapons. These systems are designed exclusively to protect against air attacks. While the Western establishment expresses concern, Putin’s forces kill peaceful people with impunity every day.
