Russia wants to transfer responsibility for shelling of Zaporizhzhya NPP to Ukraine

On August 11, Russia will try to shift responsibility for the shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant to Ukraine at the UN Security Council. The Center for strategic communication explains.

The occupiers have placed military facilities at the Zaporizhzhya NPP and are staging provocations with its shelling in order to blackmail the whole world with a nuclear threat in the conditions of the expected offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the south of Ukraine.

In addition, they are conducting dangerous experiments to disconnect the ZNPP from the Ukrainian power grid in order to redirect its work to the occupied Crimea.

The irresponsible attitude of the Russians towards the facilities of the nuclear industry poses a danger not only to Ukraine, but also to the whole of Europe. The Ukrainian Armed Forces don’t fire at the plant – Ukraine plans to liberate all occupied territories and is not interested in turning another one of its nuclear power plants into an exclusion zone.

For years, we responsibly operated our nuclear power plants, which produce 25-40% of Ukrainian electricity, and turned the Chornobyl NPP into a safe facility.

Russia must withdraw its troops from nuclear facilities so that Ukraine can regain safe control over all technological processes.
