The Russian band “Laskovy Mai” is set to embark on a tour in Germany, despite the vocalist, Andrey Gurov, being a known figure who advocates for the so-called “Russian world” and has reportedly visited the occupied Donetsk region with both “humanitarian missions” and concerts. Gurov’s past includes a six-year prison sentence, during which he performed controversial songs.

Since the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Gurov has been known to collect funds to support the Russian military and organize charity concerts to propagate the idea of elitism in serving as an aggressor.

He has also been reported to provide equipment to Russian military personnel in the “special military operation” zone and make donations.

Gurov’s actions and beliefs are representative of the toxic and dangerous “Russian dream” narrative – a convicted murderer, a failed musician who profits off the work of others, and a self-aggrandizing “volunteer” who seeks to avoid conscription.

The first concert is scheduled for February 2 in the Urania Berlin hall. It is deeply troubling that such an individual is being given a platform to perform in Germany.
