Russian War Crimes in Ukraine: Update as of 31 May

For three months and seven days in a row, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people have been resisting new and new attacks by the Russian occupiers in various directions. Ukraine appreciates all the assistance provided by international partners. The Russian occupiers are using methods that violate the rules of war. They attack civilian infrastructure, killing and injuring civilians, including children, and make actions that can have regional and international consequences. We have prepared an update of such actions of the occupiers as of May 31.

Donetsk Region

The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko reported, that on May 30 the Russian invaders killed 3 and injured 4 civilians while shelling Avdiivka and Toretsk. Also, Pavlo Kyrylenko informed, that on the night of May 30-31 the Russian occupiers launched missiles at Sloviansk. At least 7 residential buildings and a school were damaged. There were several casualties, but the exact number is being clarified.

Luhansk Region

According to the head of the Luhansk Regional Administration Serhiy Haidai, on May 30 the Russian troops fired at the residential quarters of Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Hirske, Toshkivka, Zolote, Nyrkove, Viktorivka, and Mykolaivka. At least 3 people were killed and 4 were injured due to those attacks; 45 civilian objects were damaged or destroyed. Also, the Russian occupiers shelled the car by which the crew of the French TV Channel BFMTV was evacuating from Lysychansk. The journalist Frédéric Leclercq-Imhoff was killed, and three other team members were injured.

Kharkiv Region

The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Synehubov reported, that on May 30 and in the night of May 30-31 the Russian invaders shelled the civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv, Korotych, Udy, Chkalivske, Ivanivka, and Zolochiv. At least 5 people were killed and 15 were injured.

Zaporizhzhia Region

According to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, on May 30 the Russian invaders shelled the residential areas of Komyshuvakha. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but several civilian buildings were damaged.

Mykolaiv Region

The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council Hanna Zamazeeva reported, that on May 30 the Russian invaders shelled the residential quarters of Mykolaiv, Ochakiv, Halytsynivka, Shevchenkove, Bereznehuvate, Shyroke and Inhulka Communities. At least 14 people were injured due to those attacks.
