Scholz promised air defense and ammunitions supplies for Ukraine in the coming “weeks and months”

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced the delivery of new air defense equipment to Ukraine in the coming “weeks and months”, including one Patriot air defense system, as well as missiles and ammunition.

Scholz said this at the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine in Berlin on Tuesday, 11 June 2024.

The chancellor noted that a strong and free European Ukraine “will defeat Russian imperialism” and announced the planned arms deliveries.

“The most general need of the Ukrainian army right now is ammunition, weapons, especially air defense systems. Therefore, in the coming weeks and months, we will deliver to Ukraine the third Patriot air defense system, IRIS-T, Gepard installations, missiles and ammunition,” Scholz said.

He called on the countries present at the conference to support the German initiative to increase the capacity of Ukrainian air defense “with everything they can.”
