The cargo ship “Sparta III,” which Russia sent to remove its weapons and equipment from Syria, broke down off the coast of Portugal. The fuel pipe of the main engine failed.
Russia has begun transferring some of its weapons and equipment from the port of Tartus to Libya by sea. The remnants of the Russian contingent in Syria have completed their withdrawal from remote areas and are located in only two places—at the air base in Hmeimim and the naval base in Tartus.
The Russian military in Syria is also actively discussing the demand of the new authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic to Moscow – to completely withdraw its military contingent from Syrian territory, in particular from the bases in Hmeimim and Tartus, no later than February 20, 2025.
According to the latest information from the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine: the Russian crew eliminated the problem and continued its movement through the Strait of Gibraltar. The question is, how soon will there be a new breakdown…
On the one hand, the withdrawal of all Russian troops from Syria is good news, so that the war crimes of the Russian Federation do not continue. On the other hand, immediate environmental sanctions should be imposed on Russia with a ban on any shipping in the seas and oceans. In just 5 days, 4 Russian ships sank and became inoperable: 2 fuel tankers have already sunk and 1 more has every chance of joining them. Russia is now causing massive environmental catastrophes not only on the coast but also at sea.
