The new Syrian authorities have been blocking the Russian logistics ship Sparta 2 from entering the port of Tartus for the sixth day to evacuate Russian military equipment and property.
OSINT researchers report that on December 9, the new government in Damascus sent patrol boats to Tartus. This is likely why the Sparta 2 moved even further from the coast, moving from Syrian territorial waters to international waters.
So the only way to evacuate Russian troops and equipment from Syria is currently the Khmeimim air base, where Russian Defense Ministry planes regularly arrive.
The fate of Russian military bases in the Syrian Arab Republic remains unknown at this time. Russia is negotiating with the new Syrian authorities on this matter.
Rumors have also begun to spread that in exchange for permission to remove all military property, the Syrians are demanding that Russia return Assad to the country for further trial for all crimes committed.
This position probably emerged after negotiations with the Foreign Ministers of Germany and France, who expressed their support and readiness to assist in an international investigation into the joint mass crimes of the Assad regime and the Russian military.
This is a good signal that demonstrates that every war crime and act of genocide will receive a proper investigation by the International Criminal Court and appropriate punishment.
