Analyzing the extremely difficult defense of the city of Avdiivka carried out by the Ukrainian army, we can say for certain that the military equipment provided to Ukraine has shown its strategic effectiveness. It confirms the fact that the Russians lost about 400 tanks, armored fighting vehicles, and other equipment in the battle of the Ukrainian city, according to the message of the UK Ministry of Defense. In turn, on February 16, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provided information on the losses of the Russian army in the Avdiivka direction, and the losses amounted to more than 20,000 personnel, 200 tanks, and almost half a thousand armored fighting vehicles.
The Russian Federation has suffered these losses in one and a half month! This is due not only to Ukrainian officers and soldiers, but also to the effective use of military equipment provided by the EU and the US to Ukrainians. According to information provided by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine’s sources, it occurred thanks to the effective operation of the self-propelled artillery such as Zuzana, Dana, Caesar, PzH 2000, anti-tank weapons such as MILAN, NLAW, and Javelin, tanks such as Challenger, Leopard and Abrams, and different infantry fighting vehicles.
If we compare the small amount of military equipment involved in the battle of Avdiivka the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have, we can also conclude that the effectiveness of the EU and US equipment used by Ukraine is many times higher than that of opponents from Russia. The only problem is that there are too few of them in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian military command is forced to hide the equipment so that it is not vulnerable to the Russians. Moreover, the Ukrainians have to stick to this technique in other battlefields and save ammunition.
Along with the alarming events in Ukraine, the Munich Security Conference is currently taking place in Germany, which may push the issue of supplying Ukraine with more weapons and ammunition. The only question is how quickly it will happen, because if the governments of the EU and the US are procrastinating, there are huge risks of the spread of hostilities outside of Ukraine…
