The lower house of the Polish parliament called on the European Commission to introduce restrictions on the import of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus into the EU.

“We call on the European Commission to make proposals regarding the introduction of sanctions in connection with the import of Russian and Belarusian food and agricultural products into the European Union,” the document notes. The resolution states that imports of food and agricultural products from Russia and Belarus continue bringing “huge revenues” to producers, traders, and the budgets of these countries.

Members of the Polish parliament stress that Russia continues implementing its strategy of using food as a weapon, causing disruptions in the supply of Ukrainian agricultural products around the world. “The EU’s key priority must therefore be to continue supporting Ukraine in resuming its exports to countries that need it most. Trade of food and agricultural products cannot continue supporting the brutal Russian regime and its allies in Minsk,” the document says. The Western countries should undertake actions aimed at preventing Russia from obtaining profits from its agricultural exports to various countries because these profits are used to kill innocent Ukrainian children.
