The sanctions imposed on Russia are already working

In the first four months of 2024, the official import of Intel and AMD processors to the Russian Federation was significantly reduced – by 15 times.

As stated in the material, the import of Intel processors decreased by 15 times, and in monetary terms decreased by 12 times – to 297 million rubles compared to 3.5 billion rubles for the same period last year.

A similar situation is observed with the supply of AMD processors. In the first four months of 2024, only 17,000 processors worth 142 million rubles were imported into Russia, which means a reduction of 258% in quantity and 321% in financial terms.

Experts explain this significant reduction in imports due to logistical difficulties and international sanctions. Despite this, no significant impact on production volumes is expected in Russia, although prices for relevant services may increase by 10%.

Maksym Koposov, director of the Promobit company, noted that small manufacturers who purchase processors through distributors do not face a shortage of components. However, large companies that work directly with Intel and AMD may face supply disruptions.

This may lead to a temporary shortage of electronics in the market and stop the production of servers, storage systems, computers and other equipment running on Intel and AMD processors.

It is worth noting that after the US and EU banned the export of their banknotes to Russia in March 2022, about 2.3 billion dollars and euros were imported into its territory.
