Ukraine’s Firm Stand: ambassador Makeiev rejects concessions on seized territories

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, Oleksiy Makeiev, ruled out any concession by Kyiv of Ukrainian territories seized by Russia. He made this statement in an interview with the German television channel RTL.

“We must free our people from this occupation. We will not give up an inch of land to the Russians. Russia must vacate all occupied territories,” Makeiev said, adding that this also applies to Crimea, as well as the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions seized by the Russian Federation in 2014.

The Ukrainian diplomat emphasized that peaceful negotiations should address the issue of reparations to Ukraine from Russia.

In an interview with the Augsburger Allgemeine and Main-Post, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius called for continued support for Ukraine with weapons to preserve its statehood.

He added that the goal should be to support Ukraine “with everything we can provide”.
