Putin called for the truce to start at midday in Moscow on Friday and last for 36 hours. It comes after the head of the Russian Orthodox church called for the truce so Moscow could celebrate Christmas.
Two things are clear: first, obviously no one from the Russian side would follow this order not to shoot, just as they did not follow the much easier to implement “modes of silence” back in the days of the ATO/JFO.
Second, Putin only gives such orders for political purposes. Russians has no longer hope for a qualitative change in the status quo on the battlefield. So, it’s time to imitate the change in the position of the Russian Federation and sell it politically to the West.
How react the World to Vladimir Putin “truce”:
“I found it interesting. He [Putin] was ready to bomb hospitals and nurseries and churches… on the 25th and New Year’s. I think he’s trying to find some oxygen,” the US president said in his reaction to the truce offer.
Russian forces had ramped up attacks on Ukraine during Christmas and New Year even though the Volodymyr Zelenskyy administration had called for respite.
The head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Berbock, on the “ceasefire regime” during January 6-7, which was announced by Putin: “If Putin wanted peace, he would bring his soldiers home and the war would be over. But, apparently, he wants to continue the war after a short break,”

The US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said Putin’s ceasefire announcements is likely an information operation to damage Ukraine’s reputation.
Ukrainian official condemn of such cynical Putin propose. Volodymyr Zelenskyy has rejected the ceasefire, accusing that Russia wants to use Christmas as a cover to stop the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
And although no one in Ukraine believes in the occupiers’ observance of the regime of silence, the UN, on the contrary, welcomed such an order from Russia. Thus, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told journalists during the briefing that the organization welcomes any efforts to end the “conflict”.
The reality is that the West understood what political game Putin is playing on and made it clear that Putin was wrong again.
The ONLY possible way and no other options to finish the war is Putin defeat.
