5 billion and $550 million will be allocated to support Ukraine. The U.S. military and political leadership managed to “push through” the necessary decision. This is the last amount of the $61 billion tranche that was supposed to accelerate Ukraine’s victory. However, due to the end of the US fiscal year on October 31, there was a risk of not using the entire amount.
The U.S. Department of Defense will provide Ukraine with air-to-ground weapons, ammunition for missile systems and artillery, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons.
The war has been going on since 2014. But since the start of the large-scale invasion in 2022, the Ukrainian military has already killed more than 600,000 Russian invaders. As a senior defense official noted, “Over the past month, the aggressor has suffered more losses in killed and wounded than in any other month of the war. Russian losses in the first year of the war alone exceeded Russia’s total losses or Soviet losses in any war after World War II combined.”
The official noted that Ukrainian forces have also sunk, destroyed or damaged at least 32 medium and large Russian navy ships in the Black Sea. This forced Russia to relocate its Black Sea Fleet away from Crimea.
Ukrainian troops destroyed more than two-thirds of Russia’s pre-war arsenal of tanks, forcing dictator Putin to equip his troops with old Soviet-era stockpiles that have long been decommissioned.
The defense ministry is closely monitoring the successful strikes by Ukrainians on ammunition depots in Russia. They are also analyzing strikes on fuel facilities in the occupied Crimea and believe that this will have a certain impact on the course of hostilities.
