Robert Habeck, the German Minister of Economy and Green Party candidate for chancellor, has declared that if his party wins, he is prepared to equip Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles, according to Tagesschau.
During an interview with ARD-Hauptstadtstudio, Habeck answered affirmatively to the question of whether he would supply Taurus to Ukraine. Noting that the supply of weapons is always one of the “most difficult decisions” for the government.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz, unlike the Greens, the FDP, and the CDU, opposes providing Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles.
Christian Dürr, the leader of the Free Democratic Party’s parliamentary fraction, had earlier urged a second vote on the supply of Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the US, UK, and France have recently approved permission to use long-range missiles on Russian territory.
The West should help Ukraine with all necessary resources to counter Russian aggression.
