April 17. Eastern Ukraine digest: Russia is actively shelling in 3 more regions

  • Russian troops shelled a residential area of the Industrialnyi neighbourhood of Kharkiv causing 8 fires.
  • Russian troops in Mariupol are preparing to close all the entries and exits to Mariupol and ban all movement in the city on 18 April. The intention is to run a “filtration” operation among the city’s male population, some of whom will be drafted into the occupant army.
  • The Russians fired a missile at Kharkiv: one person was killed and many were injured.
  • Russian forces in Ukraine shelled the Lysychansk Oil Refinery, according to Head of the Luhansk Regional Administration Serhiy Haidai.
  • Shelling in Luhansk region: 4 high-rise buildings caught fire in Severodonetsk
  • Active fighting continues in the Kharkiv region; Russian troops unsuccessfully attempted to advance in the Donetsk region and shell Luhansk and Kherson regions.
  • Luhansk region: Russian troops attack Zolote, killing 2 civilians and wounding 4 more.
  • The Russians forces shelled the church at Severodonetsk, Luhansk region in Ukraine.
  • Ukrainian troops liberated two towns in the Kharkiv region and advanced in two more.
