Artificial intelligence is spreading disinformation – MFA of Ukraine.

Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization Anton Demykhin said in an interview with Reuters: “This year we see that the density of cyberattacks from Russia continues, but more attention is paid to disinformation.”

Anton Demykhin said that the Russian Federation uses generative artificial intelligence (from now on referred to as “AI”) to spread its narratives to dis inform Ukrainians and other countries. AI provides new opportunities for creating and spreading disinformation by using social platforms that increase its credibility. He also emphasized the need to join forces to counter this threat.

Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Anton Demokhin also said that Ukraine uses artificial intelligence to detect Russian fake news.

Ukrainian officials have reported that agents of the FSB and Russian military intelligence have been spreading disinformation among Ukrainian Internet users.

The United States intelligence community has stated that Russia used artificial intelligence to try to influence voters ahead of the November presidential election.

The American research organization Open AI also provides information about two operations of Russia’s covert influence on social media (Telegram, X, and others).

Anton Demykhin said that recently, Russian attacks have been targeting Ukraine’s logistics and critical infrastructure. These are mainly companies that supply sensors or electricity meters. According to Reuters, the International Criminal Court (ICC) deals with this case.

The fact that the Russians created a fake website for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine was also exposed.

New fakes about the operation in the Kursk region – “Bomb at the Nuclear Power Plant” – have been published;

And an attempt to misinform the public that the CIA had approved Kyrylo Budanov for the post of President of Ukraine.
