The German Bundestag member, one of the leading politicians of the German left party “Die Linke”, Sahra Wagenknecht, who is well-known for her pro-Russian and anti-Western position, said that she would no longer seek cooperation with the current party after the end of her term.
She explained the reason for this as disagreement with the principles and position of the movement.
According to political scientists, the real reason for Wagenknecht’s leaving is the desire to establish a new broad populist party that will meet the interests of both the right and left -wing.
The results of public opinion polls indicate that there is a demand for such a party in Germany society. In this way, about 19% of respondents would be ready to vote for Wagenknecht’s own hypothetical party – including about 74% of supporters of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD).
