European officials are evaluating potential limitations on the mobility of Russian diplomats within European Union countries, according to Digi 24.
It refers to steps connected to Russia’s meddling in the internal affairs of European Union countries or in other forms of elections, particularly following Romania’s presidential elections.
The authorities in Bucharest have already discussed this problem with NATO partners and officials from Eastern flank countries.
As is well known, the Czech Republic has long advocated for limitations on Russian diplomats’ movement within the European Union.
Recall that on December 6, the Constitutional Court of Romania overturned the results of the first round of voting, in which the independent anti-Western candidate Kelin Georgescu was leading, and ruled that the entire electoral process must begin again.
The Supreme Council of National Defense declassified records that showed that the pro-Russian candidate Georgescu’s campaign was the result of concerted manipulation from abroad.
