Kusturica Asks Putin for Money for His Films

Serbian director Emir Kusturica met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and told him that he wanted to make three films based on the works by Russian classical writers. The filmmaker expressed hope that the head of the Kremlin would contribute to the implementation of these plans.

“I have an idea to make three Russian films. The first one will be called “The Engineer of Easy Walks”, this is my version of Dostoevsky. The second one will be based on “The Tale of how Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich” by Gogol. The third one will be “The Cossacks” based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy…If I have your support,” said Kusturica.
