Made in Great Britain: Trinity House agreement in action

The barrels for artillery and tank guns, for which Sheffield Forgemasters Ltd will supply steel, are set to be manufactured in the United Kingdom for the first time in over a decade at a new facility.

The defense industry giant Rheinmetall, in collaboration with BAE Systems, is currently engaged in the production of Challenger 3 tanks and Boxer multirole armored vehicles for the British Army at its Telford facility. Rheinmetall will manage the new production plant.

As part of the new Anglo-German Trinity House agreement, Rheinmetall will establish a facility in the UK (location yet to be determined) for the production of artillery gun barrels, with production slated to begin in 2027. The investment is expected to support over 400 jobs.
