Putin has rejected a proposal for a peace plan being developed by the Trump team. Experts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) say that Russian dictator Putin has rejected a proposal developed by the team of US President-elect Donald Trump for a possible peace plan.
Analysts say that one part of Trump’s peace plan was to postpone Ukraine’s membership in NATO for at least ten years. This is one of the conditions for ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The review points out that on December 26, when asked by a journalist to comment on the Trump team’s proposal to postpone Ukraine’s membership in NATO for 10-20 years, dictator Putin refused.
The Kremlin leader said that it did not matter whether Ukraine joined NATO “today, tomorrow or in 10 years.”
Putin’s statement on December 26 is part of a series of comments he has made recently reiterating his refusal to consider compromises on his demands for late 2021 and early 2022.
These demands include forcing Ukraine to become a permanently neutral state that will never join NATO, imposing severe restrictions on the size of the Ukrainian army, and removing the Ukrainian government. Putin’s demands also include the withdrawal of NATO troops from Poland and the Baltic states.
As a reminder, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov repeated Putin’s statements that the Kremlin regime considers the current Ukrainian government illegitimate. And allegedly because of this, they cannot perceive the Ukrainian government as a partner in negotiations.
By doing so, Moscow once again confirms its aggressive nature and inability to engage in dialogue on controversial and complex issues. Arrogance and cruelty are its only essence. This is manifested both at the frontline, when Putinoids shoot Ukrainian prisoners of war, and in dictator Putin’s personal decisions to launch a massive missile attack on Christmas Eve.
