Putin’s Lies About NATO

When starting the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, dictator Putin explained it by saying that Ukraine could join NATO, which, according to the dictator, could pose a danger to the Russian Empire.

In fact, this is not true. According to the available experience, from 1991 to 2025, for 34 years, NATO has not posed a threat to the existence of the Putin regime. Moreover, Russia itself knows this and does not care about the proximity of NATO’s borders.

This is evidenced by the accession of countries such as Finland and Sweden to NATO. Immediately after the start of the large-scale invasion, these countries decided to join the bloc, although they had previously had a neutral status. Putin and his entourage did not react to these actions, and there were no statements that these countries were a threat.

Previously, the common border of NATO member states and Russia was shared with five countries – Poland (232 km with a Russian enclave – in 1945, the USSR occupied the German province of East Prussia), Lithuania (266 km), Latvia (270 km), Estonia (333 km), Norway (219 km) and totaled 1320 km.

After Finland joined the bloc, the common border between NATO and Russia increased by another 1,272 kilometers. In total, this is 2592 kilometers of common border! And Putin does not care about this. Moreover, the Russian Ministry of Defense, due to numerous losses in the war against Ukraine, continued to withdraw troops and air defense systems from the Russian-Finnish border and move them to Ukraine. This once again proves that there is no threat from NATO countries.

In addition, both U.S. President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump have stated that Ukraine will not join NATO. Under such circumstances, Russia could withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine and stop killing Ukrainians, ending this senseless war.

But no. Dictator Putin continues to bring bloodshed, death and destruction to a peaceful state that has never claimed the territory of neighboring countries.
