Russia Faces Deadliest Month of Casualties in Ukraine

“Russia is paying an extraordinary price for Putins illegal invasion” – UK Chief of Defense Staff Radakin told the BBC: Russia’s forces suffered an average of about 1,500 dead and injured “every single day”, pushing total losses to 700,000—more than double the previous monthly average from 20,000 to 45,000

“October was the worst casualty figures for Russia so far”

Here’s why:

Russia has intensified attacks ahead of U.S. elections, reclaiming 650 sq km of territory this year, yet at a severe human and economic cost. (In just 3 months this fall, the signing bonus for new recruits in Belgorod jumped from $8,300 to $31,000—a nearly 4x increase)

Why are Russians escalating at such a high cost?

With North Korean troops joining and staggering daily casualties, the move seems almost desperate.

The Kremlin’s aim is to spark a refugee wave and domestic political crisis just as Trump enters the White House. And so it is willing to pay the pri ce in Russian lives and economy

According to Russian media, the Kremlin’s strategy is clear. It aims to secure a position of strength before Trump’s inauguration, for example, declaring “no negotiations while Ukrainian forces are in Kursk.”

The objective is to achieve maximal gains, inflict heavy losses on Ukraine, weaken its energy infrastructure and defense industry, and pressure civilians.
