Russian War Crimes in Ukraine: Update as of 9 June

For three months and sixteen days in a row, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people have been resisting new and new attacks by the Russian occupiers in various directions. Ukraine appreciates all the assistance provided by international partners.

The Russian occupiers are using methods that violate the rules of war. They attack civilian infrastructure, killing and injuring civilians, including children, and make actions that can have regional and international consequences. We have prepared an update of such actions of the occupiers as of June 9.

The General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine informed that since February 24 at least 283 children were killed and 478 children were injured because of actions of the Russian invaders in Ukraine.

In a meantime, the deputy chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk reported, that the Russian troops had stolen about 600 thousand tons of grain from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. At least 100 thousand of it were transported to Syria.

Donetsk Region

According to the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko, on June 7 the Russian invaders shelled the civilian infrastructure of Kurakhove, Opytne, Avdiivka, Novoselivka Persha, Vidrodzhennia, Kostiantynivka, and Bakhmut. At least 4 people were killed and 11 were injured due to those attacks. Also, the authorities managed to clarify the personalities of 4 more residents of Mariupol, killed by the Russian occupiers.

Luhansk Region

The chairman of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Haidai informed, that on June 7 the Russian militants fired at the residential quarters of Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Pryvillia, Orikhove, Ustynivka, Hirske, Katerynivka, Bilohorivka, Mykolaivka, Komyshuvakha, and Pavlohrad. At least 4 civilians were killed and 6 were injured as a result of the actions of the Russian troops. Also, the Russian invaders once more damaged the chemical plant Azot in Severodonetsk.

Kharkiv Region

On June 8 the Russian invaders struck at the non-military facilities in Kharkiv, Tsyrkuny, Korobochkine, Pechenihy, Zolochiv, Barvinkove, Balakliya, Pervomaiskyi, and Elitne. At least 2 civilians were killed and 12 were injured, the chairman of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Synehubov reported.

Dnipro Region

According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Valentyn Reznichenko, on the night of June 8-9 the Russian troops shelled Velyka Kostromka. Several residential houses were damaged.

Zaporizhzhia Region

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported, that on June 8 the Russian occupiers fired at the residential quarters of Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Chervone, and Novodanylivka. At least 1 civilian was injured, several buildings were damaged.

Mykolaiv Region

The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council Hanna Zamazeeva reported, that on June 8 at least 20 people were injured in Mykolaiv Region due to the shelling by the Russian invaders.

Sumy Region

According to the chairman of the Sumy Regional Military Administration Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, on June 8 the Russian military aircraft struck at the civilian infrastructure in Krasnopillia Community. At least 1 person was injured.
