Russian War Crimes in Ukraine: Update as of 29 May

For three months and five days in a row, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people have been resisting new and new attacks by the Russian occupiers in various directions. Ukraine appreciates all the assistance provided by international partners. The Russian occupiers are using methods that violate the rules of war. They attack civilian infrastructure, killing and injuring civilians, including children, and make actions that can have regional and international consequences. We have prepared an update of such actions of the occupiers as of May 29.

Donetsk Region

The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko reported, that on May 28 the Russian invaders killed 2 and injured 4 civilians while shelling Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Mykolaivka, Tonenke, and Cherkaske.

Luhansk Region

According to the head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Haidai, on May 28 the Russian troops fired with artillery and aircraft at the residential quarters in Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Hirske, Toshkivka, Vrubivka, and Nyrkove. At least 2 civilians were killed and 4 were injured due to those attacks. Also, the Russian invaders damaged or destroyed 61 residential buildings during the day.

Kharkiv Region

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine informed, that on May 28 the Russian occupiers shelled Zolochiv. At least 2 civilians were injured due to those attacks.

Dnipro Region

According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Mykola Lukashyk, on May 28 the Russian invaders launched two missiles on Kryvyi Rih. Fortunately, there were no casualties but a plant was destroyed (no military facilities were there) and a church was damaged.

Zaporizhzhia Region

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration informed, that on May 28 the Russian invaders shelled with artillery the civilian infrastructure in Huliaipole. Several residential buildings were damaged.

Kherson Region

The Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine reported, that on May 28 the Russian invaders shelled the residential quarters in Chornobaivka. At least 2 civilians were killed and 6 were injured.

Also, on May 28 the Russian collaborator Kiril Stremousov, who was appointed by the Russian militants as a deputy head of the Russian “administration” of the temporarily occupied Kherson Region”, announced, that the Russian troops had blocked all the exits from the region. Thus, the residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson Region cannot move to the free part of Ukraine.

Mykolaiv Region

The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Council Hanna Zamazeeva reported, that on May 28 the Russian invaders shelled the residential quarters of Mykolaiv and several other settlements of the region. At least 32 people were injured due to those attacks.
