Spain has delivered the second batch of Patriot anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine. This follows the delivery of the first batch at the end of April.
The deliveries were made in line with announcements made by Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles on 25 May during a meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group on Ukraine’s defense.
“Spain provides 1 billion euros in military assistance to Ukraine until 2024. This assistance will allow Ukraine to strengthen its capabilities, in particular, its basic air defense systems to protect civilians, cities, and infrastructure, which are still suffering from indiscriminate attacks, as happened this weekend in Kharkiv,” said Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. It was also announced that Spain will send another batch of Leopard tanks and a large amount of ammunition. The assistance should also include anti-drone systems and advanced optoelectronic surveillance systems.
Spain has been a consistent supporter of Ukraine and has honored its military assistance agreements.
