Spain Has Captured Criminals Smuggling Sanctioned Chemicals to the Russian Federation

Notwithstanding sanctions, the police of Spain has seized more than 13 tons of chemicals destined for the Russian Federation.

Law enforcement agents have arrested four alleged members of a criminal organization. Criminals were illegally providing the Russian Federation with chemical products, notwithstanding sanctions imposed on the rogue state. According to the statement of the police, citizens of Russian origin were managers of the company.

However, it is not known which chemicals the police seized in the course of the operation. Law enforcement agents found these chemicals at the port of Barcelona and arrested the four alleged criminals in the outskirts of the port. The criminals registered the company in Spain and established a complex network to export internationally sanctioned chemical products to the Russian Federation. The company had a subsidiary in Moscow, which obtained these chemicals. Furthermore, the criminals established firms in Kyrgyzstan and Armenia to conceal the real destination of these products.
