Swedish Foreign Minister : new EU anti-Russian sanctions package will include restrictions on LNG and the oil “shadow fleet”

Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström said this ahead of the meeting of the foreign ministers of EU countries in Luxembourg.

According to the Swedish minister, the 14th package of sanctions is one of the most important topics of the meeting of European ministers on Monday, 22 April 2024.

“The adoption of the 14th package of sanctions is one of the most important things, we intend to include in it both a ban on the import of (Russian – Ed.) liquified natural gas and measures against the Russian “shadow fleet”, – noted Billström.

At the same time, he emphasized that another important issue is the need for continuous military supplies to Ukraine.

“To help the country that is currently fighting for our freedom and our security,” added the Swedish Foreign Minister.

Earlier, Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis confirmed that the EU has started work on the next, fourteenth package of sanctions against Russia due to its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

According to the media, the restrictions should apply to oil tankers or the “shadow fleet” that transports Russian oil, despite sanctions that prevent it.
