The White House About North Korean Troops In Ukraine

The White House has responded to North Korea’s preparations to join the war against Ukraine on the side of Russia. White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby noted that the White House administration is concerned about reports that the North Korean military is entering the Russian-Ukrainian war. But so far, the White House has no independent confirmation of this.

“But if it is true,” Kibrey continues, ”it could mean new levels of desperation for Putin to try to make progress in Ukraine when Russia is suffering extraordinary losses in a war that has gone so far.

Yongho Kim, deputy director of the Institute for Korean Studies at George Washington University, believes that there may be North Korean special forces in Ukraine.

“Russia needs soldiers, many Russian soldiers have been killed and they need ammunition. So, both ammunition and infantrymen are what I think Russia is really looking to get from North Korea,” said Yongho Kim.

“But the thing is, sending a large group of soldiers would be a little bit risky for North Korea. If this is revealed, it would have huge consequences for their military confrontation with South Korea, and they don’t want to weaken their military position. So I think that if they did do it, they sent special forces. North Korean special forces are known to be very effective and strong,” he added.

The Institute for the Study of War draws attention to the fact that dictator Putin has submitted the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and North Korea to the parliament for ratification. By doing so, the dictator wants to provide legal justification for the involvement of North Korean soldiers in the war.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, a new formation of 3,000 North Korean soldiers is being formed on the basis of the Russian 11th Airborne Brigade.  They are likely to be involved in Russia’s defense operations in the Kursk region.

Another possible consequence of the involvement of Kim Jong-un’s troops in the Russian-Ukrainian war is that dictator Putin will be able to avoid declaring general mobilization for longer.

Returning to the White House, we note that John Kirby avoided the topic of a possible US response to North Korea’s entry into a war against Ukraine. In such circumstances, Ukraine would have to defend itself against two totalitarian states alone. But can Ukraine stand up to two nuclear powers? And who will be the next victim if Ukraine falls? If the dictators of Russia and North Korea work together to destroy Ukrainian statehood, who will they attack next?
