Joint Stock Company “Ukrainian Defense Industry” and French corporation Thales International SAS have signed an agreement on developing a joint venture. The aim is to create advanced technological solutions and provide optimized and operational support in the areas of air defense, radar systems, electronic warfare, tactical communications, and optoelectronic systems.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in the presence of the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Herman Smetanin.
“The practical consequences of the partnership with Thales International SAS will be a tighter closure of Ukrainian skies from Russian threats and the acquisition of new experience by our gunsmiths with the latest technologies. This is another step towards creating the Arsenal of the Free World based on our defense industry,” notes Oleg Hulyak, General Director of Joint Stock Company “Ukrainian Defense Industry”.
“The Ukrainian defense industry has been cooperating with Thales International SAS for a long time, and I am glad that this cooperation is deepening to the creation of a joint venture. I thank the partners for supporting our defense industry and for their courage to work in Ukraine,” emphasizes Minister German Smetanin.
It is precisely such joint ventures that allow us to keep most of the money in an ally country, and at the same time significantly increase Ukraine’s defense capabilities in the war against Russia. Numerous examples from Germany, Poland, and France prove this.
