Deputies of Lithuanian Seimas, put forward an initiative to cancel Lithuanian residence permits for Russians and Belarusians if they have traveled to Russia or Belarus most of them visit Belarus more or less regularly. The reason for this initiative was the regular trips of Russians and Belarusians with residence permits back to Russia and Belarus. The document emphasizes that 62,000 citizens of Belarus have received residence permits in recent years.
Lithuanian authorities are concerned that holders of residence permits who frequently return to their country of origin may be targeted for recruitment or to assist enemy intelligence agencies.
It is also proposed to revoke the residence permit if citizens of the Russian Federation and Belarus publicly approve of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Such actions of Lithuania contribute to the security of Europe, and other Baltic and European countries should take an example of such measures
